1. Christmas

Yuletide, Advent, Christmas, Nativity. Whatever you may call it, the festive period is the most wonderful time of the year. It finishes the 12-month calendar on a note of positivity, giving an essence of joviality and la dolce vita. A time of giving, excitement and amusement, Christmas needs the following three pre-requisites to assure the best expedient merriment.

A is for Adventure. Do something different that you’ve never done before. End the year on a high, allowing you to delve into new experiences. Future Noëls will remind you of the good fun you had at this time.

B is for best buddies. Because without great company that will make you laugh, smile, ponder, escape and enjoy, Christmas won’t nearly be as festively fantastic. Family and friends (particularly if you’re single) are primordial for the good times to roll on and on.

C is for Charity. It is the notion of Christmas right from its inception. Gifts and presents are a fantastic first step - not just gold, frankincense and myrrh but more rustic offerings such as homemade mince pies or a card will be as appreciated as something more expensive. Indeed, giving back to those less fortunate than yourselves is also essential in these tough economic times, where people are more in need than ever.

Merry Christmas, Καλά Χριστούγεννα and a Happy New Year 2014!

P.S. Make sure you are partial to a mulled wine or two - it will spice up options A and B certainly, and potentially C as well…!

  2. As the famous Pole, Lech Walesa once said, “I’m lazy. But it’s the lazy people who invented the wheel and the bicycle because they didn’t like walking…”.

Beautiful Warsaw - its bicycle culture and colourful old Town, (like this scene in Market Square) were a treat to witness on this summer’s quick-stop visit to Poland. Swietnie!
